IS IT A ROOFTOP? NOPE. IT’S A SQUARE OVERLOOKING LISBON

The museum pays homage to Portugal’s history of ceramics as the building seamlessly integrates into the banks of the Tagus River. It was designed by Amanda Levete and her UK-based firm AL_A.The water of the river on one side; the city on the other. In the middle, a building trying to reconcile the view of the urban background over water. The interior is invaded by curved lines, but the most important element is certainly the rooftop, designed to allow visitors to walk over it. They can get an unobstructed view of the city landscape, and at night, they can watch a film with Lisbon as background. The new building is the cornerstone of the general plan that Fundação Energias de Portugal (EDP) has for a campus dedicated to arts that would include the reconverted Tejo power station. A must-see.
